Welcome to Kite Shield Weather Skirts -Our Beginning
It started at an open house for product sales on a very cold January day in Brampton, ON. Guests arrived, including myself, and most commented on the how cold they were just walking in from their cars. Casual conversations with others enlightened that none of the women wore warm underlayers, and believed that snow pants were for children or sports. Although they wore warm coats, the legs and for some the “tush” were cold. This was the start of my thoughts of how to help women keep warm. I sewed an example for myself within a week or two, and wore it out into the cold. I was surprised how well a winter skirt kept me warm. How well it worked snowshoeing, winter hiking, dog walking, and doing errands about town. Then there were 9 more skirts sewn for family and friends to use and give feedback. Its been an adventure since.

Fabrics and Designs.
Our Skirts are manufactured with new polyester, nylon fabrics -Ripstop, Softshell, Fleece, and Fashion lining. These skirts are durable, long-lasting, and designed with a wraparound flow. Adjustable hook and loop closures allow you to wear the skirt high or low.
Ripstop fabric is a durable technical performance fabric that is 100% rain and wind proof that does not tear. Softshell fabric is also a technical performance fabric which is water and wind resistant. The fleece lining is used for extra warmth, and the fashion lining is water and wind resistant.
Kite Weather Shield Winter Skirts are made with three layers of fabric, much like a winter coat and snowpants. Ripstop, the exterior layer, provides wind and rain/snow protection, with heavy weight fleece as the middle layer for warmth and fashion lining to help the skirt flow over your everyday clothes.
Kite Weather Shield Warm Skirts are made with Softshell coating fabric. The fabric itself is created by spraying flocked fleece onto water and wind resistant fabric with a slight stretch. Improving movement of the skirt, 1/3 is lined with fashion lining.
Kite Weather Shield Rain Skirts are made with Ripstop polyester or nylon fabric. This single layer of fabric is waterproof, windproof, light weight and durable.
